Bow Wow Not the Dad on Birth Certificate

Bow Wow's baby mama was so pissed that he was MIA during the birth of their baby, and the days that followed -- she 86'd him from the baby's birth certificate.

Joie Chavis tells TMZ ... she was shocked that B.W. wasn't there for her when she went under the knife for an emergency C-section on April 27.  And if Bow Wow's excuse was squeamishness, it didn't explain his absence in the days that followed.

He finally showed up on the 6th day of the baby's life, to take them home.

Pissed as she was, Joie tells us Bow Wow has turned it around and now is all about baby Shai.

Joie says she's now willing to let bygones be bygones and put Bow Wow on the document, but it's going to take a judge to make that happen.

Casey Anthony and Jurors Targeted by Death Threats

Someone is threatening to kill Casey Anthony, her lawyers, and the jurors who found her 'not guilty'  of murdering her daughter -- this according to Casey's attorney Cheney Mason.
Mason tells TMZ  his team has been receiving "all kinds of threats" at his office since the controversial verdict came in ... including "one we just turned over to law enforcement."

There are reports Casey's parents are also being targeted and have gone into hiding.

For his part ... Mason doesn't seem worried. He laughed off the threats claiming the people behind them are simply "cowards."

South Sudan becomes an independent nation

Celebrations erupted across Juba as jubilant crowds marked South Sudan's long-awaited day of freedom on Saturday, when the chronically underdeveloped region became the world's newest nation.

"Today we shall raise the flag of South Sudan to join the nations of the world," said Pagan Amum, the secretary general of the ruling Sudan People's Liberation Movement, speaking at the base of a giant flagpole.

From early morning, thousands started to arrive at the official venue of Saturday's celebrations, singing songs and carrying flags.

It will be the largest international gathering ever seen in this war-damaged former garrison town on the White Nile that lacks even basic infrastructure.

Last-minute preparations have been taking place throughout the capital ahead of the historic ceremony, which is due to be attended by 30 African leaders and senior Western officials.

Workers were still fixing the awning above the VIP seating on Saturday morning, and security was tight, with sniffer dogs and heavily armed soldiers on the streets.

"This is the special day," said Joseph Legge. "We cannot wait to see the flags swap -- north down and south up."

South Sudan's independence comes exactly six months after a referendum saw southerners vote almost unanimously to split with their former civil war enemies in the north.

For decades, until a peace agreement was signed in 2005, southern rebels fought successive wars with the north, leaving the region in ruins, millions of people dead and a legacy of mutual mistrust.

The independence ceremony is being held at the mausoleum of the late rebel leader John Garang, who died just months after signing the peace accord that ended Africa's longest-running conflict and opened the door to nationhood.

"This is a historic day, a day of justice, a day I am so happy to see. Today we can move on with a new life and forget the suffering and the pain," said Archbishop Daniel Deng Bol, head of the Episcopal Church of Sudan.

Military parades, prayers and a performance of the new national anthem are due to take place from 0815 GMT, followed by the declaration of independence, the raising of the Republic of South Sudan's flag and the new country's first president, Salva Kiir, taking the oath of office.

Southern officials have said the chief guest of honour at the celebrations will be Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of crimes against humanity and genocide in Darfur.

There were Darfuris among those waiting expectantly at Garang's mausoleum.

"We are here to welcome our brothers in the south in independence, and give a message to Bashir, that this is what happens when you oppress a people," said Mohammed Jamous.

Around 200 supporters of Darfur rebel leader Abdelwahid Nur held a banner that read: "The new beginning," and "Together we must stop genocide in Darfur, Nuba Mountains."

The Nuba Mountains in South Kordofan state in the north have seen deadly clashes in the run-up to southern independence between northern troops and pro-southern militia.

French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe has already said he will try to avoid an encounter with Bashir at the independence ceremony.

But Khartoum was among the first countries to officially recognise the fledgling nation, which needs all the help it can get to overcome the vast challenges of building a stable and prosperous future.

For this, it must strike a cooperative relationship with the Sudanese leader, given the strong ties that continue to bind the two countries, and despite the strain on relations caused by the bloodshed in the Nuba Mountains.

Talks in Addis Ababa aimed at resolving issues still outstanding between north and south, such as the future status of the disputed border district of Abyei, how to manage the country's oil sector and the fate of southerners in the north and northerners in the south, have so far failed to bear fruit.

UN chief Ban Ki-moon, another key guest at the ceremony, on Friday praised the "political courage" of the Sudanese government in accepting southern independence, after meeting Foreign Minister Ali Karti in Khartoum.

"I know secession is painful, emotionally and financially... While the people of north and south Sudan will soon live in different countries, their future will be closely linked," Ban said, before flying to Juba for the celebrations.

Nigeria actress Rabi Ismail's death sentence upheld

Nigeria's final court of appeal has ruled that actress Rabi Ismail should be hanged for killing a male friend to acquire his property.

The Supreme Court upheld rulings by two lower courts that Ismail drugged and drowned Auwalu Ibrahim in 2002 in the northern city of Kano,Ismail took part in films in the local Hausa language, and her case gripped Nigeria's entertainment industry.

She was not in court when the ruling was made and is believed to be in a prison in northern Nigeria.

Our reporter says lawyers he spoke to expect the ruling to be carried though, although the Nigerian authorities have never implemented the death sentence since democratic rule was restored in 1999.

Kano has a popular film industry known as Kannywood - the Hausa-language version of Nollywood in southern Nigeria.

In 2007, the state's Islamic authorities denounced the industry, saying it promoted immoral conduct.

Islamic clerics also burned copies of a film which portrayed a man who beat his wife and used prostitutes before changing his ways.

The Campaign for Democracy (CD) yesterday had a rally beside the grave of Nigeria's democracy hero, Chief MKO Abiola, who was murdered after winning Nigeria's free and freest election on June 12 1993. The 13th anniversary was held at late Abiola's Lagos Country home, Ikeja.

THE French team may face disciplinary action from FIFA following nude photographs of three of its players on the sports page of German leading paper, Bild.

Captioned: ''Is this how to show up before you come for our games?, the pictures generated controversy in German circles yesterday but FIFA says it will wait until tomorrow's game in Moechengladbach to know the motives of Bild and the players on the provocative shots.


However, the French players confirmed yesterday that the shots were no phototrick but a ploy to distract the German team from the objective of tomorrow's match.


Meanwhile, German legend, Franz Beckenbauer, believes FIFA'S relunctance to punish Nigerian coach, Eucharia Uche, on allegation of homosexuals in women football encouraged French players to go naked on pages of German sports publication, Bild, yesterday.


French players namely Gaetine Thiney, 25, Elodie Thomis, 24, and Corine Franco, 27 posed nude in sports paper Bild and claimed it was deliberate to taunt the German team.

Flavour and Bad Beats records signed a 3 years 2 album deal on the 12th of January 2011, and the label claims to have spent close to N10 million on him. They claim they bought him a posh car, fully furnished apartment, paid for two very expensive videos and lots more. And so, they are not planning to let him go just like that…!

More than 20 Nigerian students honoured in UK

No fewer than 20 Nigerians were honoured in the United Kingdom on Monday.
The youths, who emerged as best students in their various schools across the UK, were honoured during a ceremony at the chambers of the British Upper House of Parliament, the House of Lords.
The Europe Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria reports that among the recipients were twins, Paula and Peter Imafidon, who set a new world record in Mathematics and schools admission examination in the UK.Dubbed the ‘Wonder Twins’, the duo broke records when they passed A/AS–level mathematics papers at the age of seven in 2009.

One of the recipients, Master Jordan Khiran, in an interview with NAN, expressed gratitude to his parents for helping him to do his work.“My parents always ensure that I do my homework before any other thing when I returned from school,’’ Khiran, whose best subject is Mathematics, said.Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Dalhatu Tafida, who spoke at the event, said that given the necessary enabling environment, any child could attain the optimum heights in life. Tafida said the feet of the students was worth emulating by others.

He said, “If the House of Lords could allow its own chamber for this noble cause, then it is worth celebrating.’’Tafida added that the Mission would partner with the Excellence in Education Awards Organisations, the body responsible for the awards, to replicate similar programmes in Nigeria.

Mr. Chris Imafidon, a board member of the EIE, said that there was a genius in every child, if given the right tools, techniques and technology in a nurturing environment.

Respected entertainer and one of Africa's leading talking drummers, Ara, has issued a statement, saying she's parting with her husband Prince Nurudeen Olalekan Saliu. The couple exchanged wedding vows on June 4, 2009. The pair will remain friends, Ara says. And they will continue to
jointly support their child.
"We've been separated since January', the musician says. 'But because I do not want rumours to start flying, and I think, out of respect, all my friends and fans need to know what's happening to me, I think it's right to set the records straight once and for all on this. We're no longer together and we're both happy. We've both moved on'.

'I'm single again. But I will not be searching for now'. 'I've taken this decision very painfully; and it's particularly a tough and sensitive time for me and my son. And I plead with my friends and fans to put us in their prayers at this period'.

Lagos Police Parades The Man Who Stabbed His Wife To Death

The Lagos State Police Command this morning paraded an unemployed graduate, Akolade Arowolo, 30, who allegedly stabbed his wife, Titilayo, a banker with a first generation bank, to death.

Briefing journalists at the state Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Samuel Jinadu said Akolade allegedly committed the act on 21 June, 2011 at the couple’s residence, 8, Akinseinde Street, Isolo, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

The suspect, the PPRO added, was apprehended the following day by the police at the Aswani Division.

Jinadu said the case is currently being investigated by the state CID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, while the autopsy report on the late Titilayo was being awaited.

In the meantime, Jinadu stated that Akolade will be referred to a psychiatric hospital where he will undergo a test to ascertain his state of mind.

Apparently acting on the instruction of his lawyer, Akolade Arowolo did not answer reporters’ questions. Instead, he displayed some marks on his body claiming that his wife stabbed herself to death.

His lawyer, Vincent Obianoye told journalists that his client does not want to speak to the press so as not to jeopardise police investigation into the incident.

Obianoye expressed regret over the incident and consoled Titilayo’s family.

He also cautioned journalists not to write reports that might prejudice the matter
Arowolo allegedly stabbed his wife, Titilayo, a 29-year old banker to death at their Isolo residence in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on 24 June, 2011.

A report said a few moments later, Akolade was sighted by the police at a road block in Isolo with blood soaked shirt driving an equally blood stain Honda Accord car, 2006 model.

He was accosted by the police. As he could not give a satisfactory account of himself to the police, Akolade was said to have deceived policemen on his trail and escaped on a bike.

However, he was arrested a few days later. The police at Aswani Isolo that intercepted him in the blood stained car later transferred the matter to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Yaba, Lagos for thorough investigation.

Neighbours and family members could not fathom what transpired between the couple before Akolade allegedly murdered his wife of three years and mother of their only two-year old daughter.

But in a twist, Titilayo’s family lawyer who also doubled as her family spokesperson, Mr. Nelson Ekoh, told a national daily that he suspected Akolade might have used two knives and a hammer to murder his wife.

The lawyer said when he visited the scene of the crime, he saw a hammer and two knives.

Ekoh also added that he suspected Akolade might have murdered Titilayo for money making ritual because one of her internal organs was on the floor inside their flat.

Could this be Love ???? Woman Tries to Sneak Boyfriend Out of Jail... In a Suitcase!

Police say a woman was caught trying to sneak her common-law-husband out of a Mexican prison in a suitcase following a conjugal visit.
A spokesman for police in the Caribbean state of Quintana Roo says staff at the prison in Chetumal noticed that the woman seemed nervous and was pulling a black, wheeled suitcase that looked bulky.
Spokesman Gerardo Campos said Monday that prison guards checked the bag of 19-year-old Maria del Mar Arjona and found inmate Juan Ramirez Tijerina curled up inside in the fetal position.
Ramirez is serving a 20-year sentence for a 2007 conviction for illegal weapons possession.
Arjona was arrested and charges are pending.
